Multiplying and Dividing Exponents

Multiply and Dividing  Exponents Worksheet - (5.NBT.A.2)
Strategy: Zeroes

Zeros are your Heros! Place extra zeros around your decimals as place holders. They must be before a whole number or at the end of a decimal. Multiply zeros to the right, divide to the left. Be strategic, but 2 to 6 should do. Drop the zeros with no value. Ex: 20.1 ÷ 10²  = 00020.1 ÷ 10² =  Move the decimal 2 places because 10² = 10x10 or it has two zeros. Move the decimal to the left to divide to show the movement of the place values which would move to the right. Note: Your quotient will be smaller than your divisor when you divide (not÷1).

Move the decimal to the right to divide to show the movement of the place values which would move to the left. Your product will be greater than your smallest factor when you multiply (not×1).
